Prince William has had another difficult week, with his uncle Earl Charles Spencer releasing a book that criticises the Royal Family and reveals personal details about his late mother, Princess Diana. According to royal reporter Jasmine Carey, the Prince of Wales may find it hard to fully forgive his uncle for the publication.
Earl Spencer's book, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” hit the shelves just days ago. The book is loaded with criticisms towards the royals and contains details about William’s mother that the future king probably did not want to become public knowledge.
Questions at royal engagement
This has resulted in another tough week for William, with the Prince of Wales even being asked questions about his uncle’s book as he turned up for a royal engagement this week. It was very similar to the situation William faced earlier this year, when he found himself being asked questions about his other uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
While the two situations are, of course, very different, the result of them is almost the same. Both situations probably caused stress and tension for William, who is one day going to be head of the monarchy.
Painful content about Diana
While William will most likely never forgive his uncle Andrew for the scandals he has been involved in — even though he denies wrongdoing — Carey also thinks it is unlikely he will forgive Earl Spencer for the new book. This is because not only did the book paint William’s royal relatives, like King Charles, in a negative light, but it also contained a lot of content about Princess Diana’s vulnerabilities, including the way in which she would sometimes contemplate “ending it all”.
This is likely to have been painful for William to hear, especially as the book has also brought her 1997 car crash death back into the royal spotlight. For William, it has been another tough week, thanks to another uncle who has brought the Royal Family into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
