The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to mark one year since moving into their Windsor home, Forest Lodge, which they have described as their 'forever home'. The family moved into the property in early November 2025, following a period of renovation.
Historic Property with Modern Lease
The couple signed a 20-year Crown Estate lease that commenced in July 2025. The Grade II-listed Georgian mansion, historically known as Holly Grove, features eight bedrooms and includes Flemish bond brickwork, Venetian windows, marble fireplaces, elaborate plaster cornicing and a distinctive half-barrel-vaulted hallway ceiling, according to Hello! Magazine.
The family also maintains a London base at Apartment 1A, located within the grounds of Kensington Palace, which is typically used when the couple need to be in London for official royal duties. They also own Anmer Hall, a country estate in Norfolk that provides a setting for countryside escapes.
A New Chapter After Difficult Years
Before moving to Forest Lodge, the family lived at nearby Adelaide Cottage, where they moved in during the summer of 2022, just before the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Over the past three years, the family faced significant health challenges, including cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Catherine, which were announced within weeks of one another.
The Princess confirmed in January that she was in remission, while King Charles, 77, continues to receive ongoing treatment. The move to Forest Lodge marked a fresh start for the family and the beginning of a new chapter, one in which they can look forward to creating a lifetime of happy memories together.
