Maya Jama has been praised by Action for Children after donating £83,500 to the charity — the exact sum she would have won on Celebrity Traitors had fellow traitor King Kenny not voted against her at the BBC show's final roundtable.
The 32-year-old revealed she had made the contribution on Saturday, despite being eliminated from the reality show during Friday night's dramatic final. Viewers watched Jama narrowly miss out on the £83,000 prize money after Kenny voted against her, sealing her exit.
Donation announced on X
In a post to X, the Love Island presenter wrote: "Just donated what I would have won for my chosen charity @ActnForChildren. Amazing cause."
Action for Children works to help and support vulnerable children with issues such as poverty, abuse and finding a foster home. The charity confirmed Jama had donated £83,500.
Charity's response
Katherine Woods, director of fundraising at Action for Children, told the Press Association: "We're absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation from Maya Jama. She certainly held her nerve until the very end and proved herself to be the star of the show."
Woods added: "With four million children in the UK currently living in poverty, Maya's own experiences of food insecurity growing up make this incredibly generous support even more meaningful.
"Every day, our frontline workers see the impact of families struggling to make ends meet, from parents fleeing domestic abuse to those facing impossible choices about how to provide for their children as the cost-of-living crisis continues to rise.
"Generous donations like Maya's mean we can be there for families when they need us most, providing practical and emotional support so children across the UK can have the safe and happy childhood they deserve. Thank you, Maya."
Final outcome
Jama was the sole surviving original traitor in the game, having worked alongside King Kenny, who also fell short of victory after the faithfuls turned on him.
The episode wrapped up with actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan claiming victory as the last two remaining contestants. Croft is pledging his £41,500 share to the charity Choose Love, while Ranganathan is directing his winnings to the Refugee Council.
