Thomas Markle's 10-word wish for Archie and Lilibet before UK move

Thomas Markle has shared a heartbreaking message about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ahead of their move from the US to the UK. The 81-year-old has never met his grandchildren as he has been estranged from his youngest daughter, Meghan Markle, since 2018.

Thomas shared in his statement that he only found out about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's move back to the UK at the "same time as the rest of the world". He shared that he was "hurt and upset", especially after having made numerous attempts to reconcile with Meghan.

Never met his grandchildren

He also spoke of his upset over having never met Archie and Lilibet, adding: "I have never met my grandchildren, and now they are leaving America.

"One day those kids will ask about their 'other' grandfather – the one who isn't King – the one that Meghan and Harry are apparently ashamed of."

A heartbreaking wish

He then shared one heartbreaking wish for Archie and Lilibet: "I hope they know how much I wanted to meet them."

Meghan and Harry are set to return to the UK within the next few days, with their children already enrolled in British schools.

No change to royal status

It is understood there will be no change to Harry and Meghan's role and status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family.

Harry and Meghan previously lived in the UK, and even welcomed their son in London. The couple announced their plans to step down from royal duties in early 2020, then moved to the US to start a new life. The couple then welcomed their daughter while living in California.
