A father and son brought a childhood rocking horse to The Repair Shop, hoping to restore it for a new addition to the family. The sentimental story moved the experts.
A Family Heirloom
The father, named Fayez, explained that he bought the horse for his young son in Syria in 1983. It was quickly loved by the family and his second son, Jay.
Two years later, the family moved to the UK but continued to travel back to see their grandmother in Syria. Regrettably, those visits ended due to the conflict.
A Special Request
When his wife returned to check on their apartment, the horse was still there, as the grandmother had kept it safe. Jay shared the sweet reason for wanting it fixed: his son was due to be born in two weeks.
He explained that the 'ideal outcome' was for his son to be able to play on it when he's older. The BBC experts, Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell, said they would do their 'utmost' to fix it, enlisting help from others in the barn.
A Joyful Reunion
When the father and son returned, their excitement was palpable. Fayez announced: "Now, we have the newly born!" Jay added that he now has a three-week-old at home.
He remarked: "That's happened since I last came. You know, he's really the reason behind me wanting to get this restored so I can gift it to him."
The presenters extended their congratulations before unveiling the transformation, which left the pair speechless. The episode ended with a heartwarming photo of Jay and his son enjoying the restored rocking horse.
