TV presenter Stacey Dooley, whose investigative documentaries have taken her to war zones in Syria and Nigeria, says the coastal UK city of Southampton is worse than anywhere else in the world.
The former Strictly star, 39, explained: “Oh God, this is going to get me cancelled. I don't love Southampton. Like I can handle hostile (but) I never have a good time in Southampton. I am happy to say I don't like Southampton. I'll tell you why. One time I found a hair in my fajita and in a very mediocre restaurant and I paid a lot of money.”
Hair in fajita and theatre criticism
She added: “I thought this is not a nice pleasant experience. I was dragging somebody else's hair out.”
Dooley also performed in a play at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre and recalled: “We were sort of rehearsing and da-da-da-da-da, but it's a big space. And I heard two girls slagging me off in the canteen area saying I wasn't speaking loud enough.”
Warning to performers
Speaking on the Romesh Ranganathan Show, she warned anyone performing there: “You will get feedback, I'm going to have the mayor of Southampton emailing me!”
Meanwhile, pantomime legend Julian Clary fears drunks will be tempted to urinate on his picture this Christmas. After 11 seasons of panto at London's Palladium, he has been honoured with his picture on their wall of fame outside the venue.
Clary's wall of fame fears
Clary told the Radio Times: “I'm next to Shirley Bassey and Norman Wisdom at the moment. But I'm sort of waist-high, so I imagine drunken youths might urinate on me as they pass by late at night. Still, rather me than Shirley Bassey.”
Clary stars as fairy godfather alongside reunited French & Saunders this year and deadpanned: “I've done it with Dawn twice and Jennifer once. To have them both, my cup runneth over.”
