Sky News Harry and Meghan alert as royals dealt major blow

Sky News has issued a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle alert, which came as an unexpected blow to the Royal Family. This week, the Duke and Duchess made their first public appearance together since returning to the UK with a joint visit to Nottingham.

As they arrived on official business to visit three charities, the couple were greeted by hordes of locals, schoolchildren and photographers who clamoured against barriers hoping for a photo and a quick chat. As well as greeting fans, the Royal couple were gifted with multiple bouquets of flowers, cartoon gift bags and balloons for their children Archie, seven and Lilibet, five.

Special Visit to Nottingham

The trip appeared to serve as a special visit for Harry and Meghan, as Nottingham was their very first joint royal outing in December 2017, shortly after announcing their engagement.

Addressing their welcome, on Sky News' The Wrap, guest and Guardian Columnist Zoe Williams stated: "Even though I have no feelings for the Royals of any kind, I am pleased. I think it's nice."

"I think it's great, we're back to the 18th century with rival courts ... you only have to look at the picture, people are beaming from ear to ear ... everybody loves it," added fellow guest, Lord Ed Vaizey.

Royal Visits Overshadowed

As presenter Anna Botting then flicked through the papers and revealed the Sussexes' visit had made the front cover of several newspapers, Ed remarked: "That was without a hitch."

This comes as a huge blow to the Royal Family, as Prince William and Catherine's Cornwall visit was completely overshadowed and hardly received any attention from royal fans.

While their visit wasn't publicly announced, it was listed in Friday's Court Circular, the official record of the Royal Family's activities.

The listing for Thursday, October 15, reveals that the future King and Queen, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall when visiting the area, visited Nansledan, an ongoing housing development run by the Duchy of Cornwall, which is an extension of Newquay.

It read: "The Prince and Princess of Wales, Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon visited the Duchy of Cornwall's Nansledan site near Newquay, Cornwall."

Wales Visit Under the Radar

King Charles and Queen Camilla had also been on official business and with a Royal visit to Wales, which also appeared to fly under the radar.

The Monarch's arrival marked his first official meeting with First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth, following Plaid Cymru's election victory, a party rooted in a strong republican tradition. As King Charles held a speech in the Senedd, with most of its 96 members in attendance, around 30 protesters by the steps of the Senedd were vocal throughout the royal visit, and one was arrested on suspicion of breaching the Public Order Act, according to the BBC.

Chants of "not my King" and "down, down, down with the crown" could be heard from protesters during the visit.
