Sarah Jayne Dunn is 'manifesting' a part on Coronation Street after failing to land Strictly Come Dancing. The actress, 44, previously starred as Mandy Richardson on Hollyoaks for almost 30 years but was infamously axed after she decided to pursue a secondary career selling racy photos on OnlyFans.
From Strictly to Corrie
She then started up an Instagram campaign where she was trying to get herself a spot in the line up of this year's Strictly Come Dancing but, having been forced to put that dream on hold, she has now issued a plea to bosses the ITV soap to give her a role instead.
Speaking in a new video posted to Instagram, she said: "I'm gonna share with you my next manifesting series. Strictly was my first manifesting series, it's not come off this year, however, it did cause some traction and it got people talking. Timing is everything and everything [happens] for a reason. For whatever reason, it wasn't meant to be this year so we've parked that one for now.
"This is what I'm manifesting next. For those of you who follow me because of my Hollyoaks days, you'll know I was in a soap on and off for 26 years. I was always asked if I would ever soap jump, or if there was another show I would do. My answer was always, and to this day, is Coronation Street.
Why Corrie is the perfect fit
The TV star then claimed that she would be "amazing" if producers of Coronation Street, which is filmed at MediaCityUK in Greater Manchester, snapped her up because she knows how soap production works and insisted she has learned to be more upfront about what she actually wants despite what others may think of her.
She added: "I'm a Northern girl, Corrie is filmed not too far away from me. It just makes sense, right? A few other reasons why I think it would be perfect - my parents are huge Coronation Street fans, to the point where my dad records it, he will not miss it.
"I'm pretty sure they think it's based on true life events, he thinks it's a documentary, not a soap. I could play a completely different character, I need to be a villain. That would be so cool, wouldn't it? A super villain. Having been on a soap since the age of 14, there is nothing that I don't know about filming a soap - the schedule, how it works, the timeline.
"So I've already got the experience. I also know lots of people who are either in the show or have been in the show, and I'm talking cast and crew. So that's another thing completely in my favour. I know some people will be like, 'Oh my God, that's cringe, that's embarrassing.'
"But I don't care anymore, I've spent so much of my life being too scared to ask for what I want, or to be vulnerable, or to put out there what it is that I actually want. This is what I want, I'd be amazing. I'm gonna let the universe do its thing."
Strictly disappointment
This year's lineup of Strictly Come Dancing will feature the likes of EastEnders icon Lacey Turner, Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb and Kim Kardashian's hairdresser Chris Appleton. When it became apparent to Sarah Jayne that she had not been chosen to compete on the BBC Saturday night favourite, she openly spoke of her "disappointment" but thanked her fans for their support.
She wrote: "Well, this chapter didn't end the way I'd hoped. Of course I'm disappointed. I wanted this more than I can put into words.
"But if this journey has taught me anything, it's that saying your dreams out loud isn't something to be embarrassed about. It's brave. It's vulnerable. And whether you get the outcome you're hoping for or not, there's something really powerful about backing yourself.
"Over the last few months I've been overwhelmed by your support. From every message, comment and share, to seeing my name mentioned on TV and radio... this journey has already given me more than I ever expected."
