An insider has warned that Sarah Ferguson could cause more damage to King Charles's legacy than Earl Spencer has with his explosive new memoir, which has reportedly left the Royal Family "completely on the ropes."
The former Duchess of York, 66, is reportedly viewing the fallout from Swan Song: Diana, My Sister as a powerful reminder of the influence she could wield if she decided to write her own story. Princess Diana's brother, 62, sent shockwaves through Buckingham Palace after alleging Charles made cold remarks following Diana's death, prompting the Palace to release a statement saying "fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory."
Insider warns of potential 'chaos'
Sources reveal the surprise release has played directly into Ferguson's hands as she navigates her own fraught relationship with the Royal Family. "No one knew this book from Charles Spencer was coming until the last minute, so it's taken Sarah by surprise, although for her it's been a very good surprise because it's got the King and everyone else within the Firm completely on the ropes," an insider told Heatworld.
"It's a good reminder of the sort of chaos someone can cause with a tell-all like this. And, considering how close Sarah has been to the family over the past five decades, odds are she could do a lot more damage to the King's legacy than Earl Spencer has."
Fergie's financial pressures mount
Although Sarah's representatives insist she "is not writing a personal memoir," sources suggest her public denials are part of a calculated move to remind the Monarch that her silence is a choice. The mother of two is reportedly holding off on signing any book deals in the hope that the King or Prince William will "throw her a bone."
Ferguson's financial position has grown increasingly desperate following her and ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's eviction from Royal Lodge and the loss of their royal titles. Her exile deepened after Department of Justice emails showed her calling convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein a "supreme friend" while asking for financial assistance. Inclusion in the documents does not indicate legal wrongdoing.
Push for a private summit
Sarah has been absent from royal events for over a year, with her final official public appearance alongside King Charles at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent on September 16, 2025. With revenue avenues closing, insiders have claimed that Ferguson is pushing for an urgent private summit with the King.
"She wants to be in the same room as the King, look him in the eye and understand whether there is any conceivable route back," a source told Radar Online, adding that losing her royal privileges has left her facing "uncomfortable questions" over how to fund her lifestyle.
