Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have chosen the Savoy Palace in Madeira for their lavish wedding celebrations this weekend. The five-star resort, named the number one in Spain and Portugal, offers a private beach, gardens, a fitness centre, and a sun terrace with 360-degree views of the island and ocean.

The couple, who got engaged a year ago, will tie the knot at Funchal Cathedral, a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the hotel. The cathedral seats approximately 800 people, ideal for a celebrity guest list. The Grand Ballroom at the Savoy Palace can hold 1,000 partygoers, and the resort features 352 rooms, six swimming pools, a spa, and options for scuba diving and yoga.
Guests can enjoy amenities like a children's playroom, family games room, solarium, and dining options serving Mediterranean and international cuisines. The hotel also offers £226 massages, £325 facials, and £80 manicures, along with a 24-hour gym.

The couple is thought to be spending their wedding night in The Reserve, described as a 'hotel within a hotel', offering a more discreet experience with breathtaking panoramic views and rooms of unparalleled excellence. Starting price is £1,100 per night. Ronaldo's $1.2billion net worth will be put to good use, despite his nearby seven-storey mansion overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Ronaldo's Connection to Madeira
Ronaldo was born and raised in Funchal, and his mother and brother are thought to still live there. The local airport has been named Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport since 2016, and he has a bronze statue in his honour, as well as the Pestana CR7 Funchal Hotel and Museu CR7 museum.
What Ronaldo Has Said About Getting Married
Ronaldo had hoped to arrive at his wedding as a World Cup winner, but Portugal was eliminated by Spain in the Round of 16. He told Piers Morgan: 'I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion's trophy. I'm going to marry her because I believe it's the right time. Not just because she's the mother of my children – but because she's the person I love most.'
He recalled proposing at 1am with a £3million ring, saying 'It was like, 1am. My daughters were in bed sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say, "Daddy, you're going to give the ring to Mum, and you're going to ask her to get married." I said, "Wow, this is the right moment to say yes." It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn't planned to do it then.'
Rodriguez had to be certain the proposal was genuine. Ronaldo recalled: 'She didn't care about the ring. She asked me if I was speaking the truth. She said, "Are you honest?" And I said, "Yes, I'm honest. I want you. I want to marry you." She didn't believe me at first.'
The couple are now primarily based in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr.
