Princess Maria Immaculate marries after secret romance

Princess Maria Immaculate of Liechtenstein has married Zurab Dzidziguri in an Orthodox ceremony at St. Peter's Church (Peterskirche) in Vienna on October 31, following a five-year-long secret romance.

The second daughter of Prince Gundakar of Liechtenstein and Princess Marie of Orléans wore an off-shoulder white gown with a long train and a turquoise and diamond peacock tiara created in 1926. The groom wore a traditional Georgian chokha, a woollen coat with a high neck.

Secret Relationship Revealed

The couple kept their relationship under wraps right up until their wedding day. They met when Princess Maria was visiting Tbilisi in 2021.

Princess Kristine de Bagration-Mukhrani, the groom's sister, explained why details surrounding their relationship have only just emerged.

"Information about the couple's engagement had not been made public until now, which was linked to the dynastic rules of the Princely House of Liechtenstein. The marriage was preceded by the relevant formal procedures, including Zurab's personal meeting with the monarch of Liechtenstein, His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II, uncle of Princess Maria-Immaculata," she said.

Royal Blessings and Cultural Celebration

Zurab Dzidziguri personally met with Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein before the wedding to seek his approval. Princess Maria Immaculate and Zurab Dzidziguri also met with Shio III, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, who gave his blessing to their union.

Zurab Dzidziguri works in innovation project management and is the brother of Princess Kristine de Bagration-Mukhrani, a member of the Georgian royal family.

"My brother Zurab and Princess Maria-Immaculata of Liechtenstein have married," began Princess Kristine. "Today, 31 October 2026, in Vienna, the capital of Austria, a solemn wedding ceremony took place at St Peter's Church, celebrated according to the Christian Orthodox rite," she continued.

Symbolic Union of Cultures

Princess Kristine also expressed her joy at the couple's union following a special evening in the Austrian capital.

"Today's wedding in Vienna, as well as being a celebration of love, has also become a symbolic meeting of Georgian and European cultures, traditions and family values. I congratulate them from the bottom of my heart on the beginning of a new chapter of happiness," she said.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone, to their friends and to our dear guests, for coming to Vienna and for making this special day so beautiful."
