The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis at the Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday. Kate Middleton, 42, joined the royal family for the annual celebration of the King's official birthday, wearing a striking white dress by Jenny Packham with a matching hat by Philip Treacy.
The knee-length dress, featuring a statement bow detail, is a recycled outfit similar to one she wore to the Prime Minister's Lunch in 2023, but updated with a new belt and bow. She accessorised with the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, marking her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, and Cavolfiore pearl stud earrings by Cassandra Goad, which she previously wore at Prince Louis' christening in 2019.
Kate was accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The family travelled in carriages down The Mall to the Horse Guards Parade, where the military parade took place. The Princess later appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, a tradition she has upheld since 2011, barring the Covid-affected years.
In a statement released on Friday, Kate confirmed her attendance, saying she was 'looking forward' to the event. She acknowledged her ongoing chemotherapy treatment, stating, 'I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.' She added that she hopes to join a few more public engagements over the summer but is 'not out of the woods yet.'
