The Princess of Wales is set to host a spectacular evening of festive music and reflection next month, as she prepares for her fifth annual 'Together at Christmas' carol service.
A Royal and Celebrity Gathering
The event will take place at the iconic Westminster Abbey on Thursday, 5 December. This year's service promises an impressive roster of performers, ensuring a memorable night for all attendees and viewers at home. Confirmed artists include the soulful sounds of singer-songwriter Katie Melua, the pop energy of Griff, the shanty harmonies of Fisherman’s Friends, and the theatrical powerhouse Hannah Waddingham. Dan Smith, the lead vocalist of the band Bastille, will also take to the stage.
The royal family will be out in force to support the initiative. Prince William is scheduled to deliver a reading during the service, adding a personal touch from the senior royals. Their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are also expected to be present at the heart-warming occasion.
Celebrating Community and Kindness
The core theme of the 'Together at Christmas' service is a celebration of love, community spirit, and acts of kindness. Adding further star power to the readings will be two acclaimed Hollywood actors. Oscar-winner Kate Winslet and BAFTA recipient Chiwetel Ejiofor will share poignant pieces that reflect the festive spirit.
For those unable to secure a seat in the Abbey, the event will be widely broadcast. The service will be shown on ITV1 and the ITVX streaming platform on Christmas Eve. A repeat broadcast has also been scheduled for Christmas Day, allowing families to enjoy the celebration as part of their holiday traditions.
In a move that extends the festive cheer across the nation, the main event in London will be complemented by 15 community carol services happening simultaneously in other parts of the UK, truly embodying the 'Together at Christmas' name.
