Princess Catherine was reportedly spotted "blushing" as she met US actor Tom Cruise at the recent Digger premiere in London. The Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance at the film's UK premiere, with Tom stopping for a chat with the royal couple as they stepped on the red carpet.
While Tom, who is known to be a huge fan of the couple, appeared mesmerised by Catherine, one royal expert says the royal was also seen "blushing" as she spoke to the actor.
Royal expert's observation
Speaking on the latest episode of Palace Confidential, royal editor Rebecca English said: "I felt like he had a bit of a crush on her. He popped up everywhere she was; he was popping up behind and just looking at her and kind of smiling... There was one moment and I did a little video of it... She looked like she was blushing a little bit... And I messaged someone in the household and said, 'Could this little crush be slightly reciprocated'..."
The insider reportedly told her that she may have looked slightly "taken aback," which could have been because they don't do many star-studded events. The couple has previously met Tom on several occasions, with the actor praising the couple again after their latest meeting.
Tom Cruise's praise for the couple
Speaking to Extra on the red carpet, Tom said: "She's got a great sense, incredible sense of humour. I mean, obviously very intelligent and fun. They're so charismatic and so elegant; that dress that she was wearing? Stunning, absolutely stunning."
He then reportedly turned his attention to Prince William, saying, "William did well," with a wink, adding, "Way to go. Smart choice."
Previous meetings and history
Tom also revealed that the couple had reached out to him after the London screening. He added: "You know, they were shocked and surprised and wrote me later, 'Can't stop thinking about the movie. It was really beautiful."
The three of them previously appeared together at the UK debut of Top Gun: Maverick back in May 2022. Tom previously met William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, whilst at the premiere of their romantic drama Far and Away in 1992.
He also later attended Diana's funeral in London in 1997, which took place just days after her tragic death. During an interview, after her death, Tom called Diana a "brilliant and intelligent woman" and said that knowing her had been "a joy."
