Just hours after Princess Eugenie gave birth to her third child, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield discussed the line of succession on GB News, noting that the newborn will not receive an HRH title. Eugenie welcomed her first daughter with husband Jack Brooksbank on August 4 in Lisbon, Portugal.
No HRH Title for Newborn
During the broadcast, host Nana Akua asked if a name had been announced. Schofield replied that no name had been revealed yet, calling it "the big mystery so far." She confirmed the baby is the couple's first daughter and third child, joining the line of succession but without an HRH title due to longstanding royal rules.
Schofield explained that royal titles generally pass through the male line, and since Jack is a private citizen, the children do not receive HRH designations. She added that not every grandchild of a monarch automatically becomes a prince or princess.
Private Life and Line of Succession
The commentator noted that Eugenie and Jack have built a more private life than many royals, splitting their time between Portugal and the UK. She suggested this may be influenced by "some of the chaos surrounding her father." The new baby is fifteenth in line to the throne, and her day-to-day life is expected to be far from official royal duties.
Akua asked if Eugenie's sons receive HRH titles, and Schofield clarified they do not, for the same reason. However, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying the family is delighted, reflecting a close relationship between Eugenie and King Charles.
