Princess Eugenie welcomed her third child on August 3, announcing that her daughter had made her appearance just a day after her birth. The little one - whose name is yet to be announced - is Eugenie's first daughter, with the 36-year-old already a proud mother to two young sons. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, already share August, five, and three-year-old Ernest.
Pregnancy announcement and public speculation
The couple announced her pregnancy back in early May, however did not share the due date, just revealing that they would welcome their new baby in the summer. Although her name is yet to be announced, many fans have begun speculating what the new young royal could be called.
Middle name could honor the late Queen
Whilst the first name is unknown, it has been speculated that Elizabeth could easily be in the running for her middle name. Elizabeth is the name of the late Queen, Eugenie's beloved grandmother and the new baby's great-grandmother. The name has been bestowed upon the late Queen's own daughter, who is named Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, as well as several of her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
Family tradition of meaningful names
Eugenie's sister is named Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary, whilst her two daughters also have Elizabeth as part of their middle names. Beatrice's four-year-old daughter, born in 2021, is named Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi. Her second daughter is named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.
Although this is her first daughter, Eugenie made sure that her sons had names that reflected special people in their lives. The name August is a nod to Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, while Philip honours Eugenie's grandfather, Prince Philip. As for Ernest, he was named after his great-great-great-grandfather, King George V, who was George Frederick Ernest Albert.
