Princess Eugenie shares baby Adelaide video on anniversary

Princess Eugenie has marked her eighth wedding anniversary by sharing an Instagram video of her two-month-old daughter Adelaide with husband Jack Brooksbank, whom she called the "best Dada and partner".

The royal couple welcomed their third child, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal. The clip shows Jack cradling the newborn, gently rubbing her head while rocking her back and forth.

Anniversary tribute

The 36-year-old accompanied the post with the caption: "Happy 8 years married my love. What you can't hear in this video is Jack asking our daughter if she likes her head being massaged that way... so thoughtful, caring, and best Dada there is to our 3. Couldn't have wished for a better partner".

Eugenie and Jack married at St George's Chapel in Windsor in October 2018. Adelaide joins her two elder brothers, August, five, and Ernest, three, nicknamed Augie and Ernie.

Name and heritage

The Princess said her daughter's name honours "three people we love and admire past and present", including Adelaide's late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, while also celebrating both English and Portuguese heritage - "two places we love and call home."

Adelaide's birth was notable as one of the rare instances of a British royal being born on foreign soil, with Eugenie and Jack maintaining a home in Portugal.

Royal family context

Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, sits 12th in line to the throne. She divides her time between Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace and a coastal retreat in Portugal's Alentejo region. Sources suggest the Iberian home offers the family respite from controversy surrounding her parents.

The Royal family has faced months of upheaval since the publication of the Epstein files in February, which shed further light on Andrew and his former wife's ties to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
