Princess Charlotte stole the show at a rare public appearance in Canada yesterday, where the 16-month-old royal delighted crowds with her walking and dancing. The toddler, alongside her brother Prince George, attended a garden party at British Columbia's Government House, where they enjoyed a petting zoo, bubbles, and balloons.
Royal watchers noted Charlotte's striking resemblance to both her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, and her great-grandmother, the Queen. Pictures show Charlotte's features are very similar to those of Queen Elizabeth II at a similar age, as well as to a young Kate Middleton.
William and Kate chatted about how Charlotte is teething and always hungry. The children were treated to animals including a Nubian goat, miniature horses, and a therapy dog named Moose, which Charlotte bounced on delightedly.
Balloons proved the biggest hit, with Charlotte making a beeline for a balloon arch upon arrival. She rubbed her hands up and down it in excitement and tried to lift the whole archway. Meanwhile, Prince George entertained himself with a bubble gun and asked for a balloon spider and volcano from entertainer Paul Kilshaw.
Kilshaw noted that George wanted a balloon only after seeing Charlotte get one. William joked that they try making balloons at home but it doesn't work. The sibling bond was evident as Charlotte followed George when he ran off.
