Coronation Street: Carla's factory crisis and Gary's prison drama

Next week on Coronation Street, Carla Connor-Swain faces the possible end of her factory as it is sabotaged, Gary Windass deals with drama behind bars, and Ronnie Bailey confronts a heartbreaking future.

Carla's Factory Under Threat

Carla's troubles begin when Idris Nazir overhears her talking to Lisa about an important meeting at a hotel. During the meeting, Carla and Michael Bailey are pleased with how things are going, but as the client heads to the loo, Idris stops him.

Later, an intrigued Idris listens in again as Carla confides in her wife, Lisa Connor-Swain, in the cafe that she will have to cancel the Christmas bonus, and she needs to get the current order out on time if she is to save the factory. Carla then breaks the news to the devastated staff that she is struggling to keep the factory afloat.

Meanwhile, Idris meets up with Brody at the rear of the factory and, handing him a lighter, tells him he's got a job for him. Brody lets himself into No.4 and steals Sally Metcalfe's set of factory keys. Checking the coast is clear, Brody lets himself into the deserted factory, unaware he is being watched by Leanne Battersby. Soon, Sally finds Carla and Lisa in the Rovers and tells them that the factory alarm is going off.

Confrontation and Closure

At Speed Daal, an angry Leanne confronts Idris and Brody, revealing that she saw Brody break into the factory. Meanwhile, Carla tells the shocked factory workers that she has no option but to shut the factory and can only pay them one month's wages.

Having thought about what he has done, a remorseful Brody is left disgusted that Leanne and Idris seem unconcerned about the factory having to close and all the staff being out of a job. Later, in Speed Daal, an excited Idris shows Leanne the factory floor plans and explains that once the money is through from the sale of the school land, the factory will be theirs.

Carla is touched when Sean, Izzy and Michael join her in the Rovers and tell her that they will do anything to help her get the factory back up and running.

Gary's Prison Concerns

Over at Weatherfield prison, Gary notices a gash on Marco Rhodes' arm. Marco plays it down, but Gary is suspicious. Meanwhile, Summer Spellman is upset when she and Maria Windass arrive at the prison, and the guard tells her Marco won't come out of his cell.

Maria begs Gary not to get involved when he tells her he is worried Marco is getting bullied, while back on the street, Summer finds Ross Wilkes in the Rovers and is grateful when he says he will keep an eye on Marco. Once back at work, Ross tells Marco he's put his name down for a cleaning job to keep him occupied, but later, Ross finds Marco alone in his cell.

Later, in their cell, Gary tells Marco how Ross inferred that Maria is having an affair. Marco asserts that Ross is a wind-up merchant, and it's best to ignore him.

Daniel and Adam's Fight

While Alya Nazir assures Summer that Adam Barlow is all set for Marco's appeal, having discovered Adam and Idris' involvement in the sale of the school land, a furious Daniel Osbourne confronts Adam, who explains that he couldn't afford to turn down the business. Ken and Amy Barlow are then horrified to find Daniel and Adam fighting in the street. Tyrone Dobbs pulls the men apart, and when Adam reveals that he's due in court, Tyrone points out that he can't go in a ripped suit covered in blood.

At the court, Alya and a jittery Summer wait for Adam. Soon, Adam races into the court to find Summer deeply upset. Later, Summer visits Marco and tells him he is lucky to have Ross on his side. Marco covers and nods in agreement, but later, Ross pays Marco a visit and, spying a card from Summer, he picks it up and tears it to pieces. Having discovered an upset Marco, Gary lambasts Ross, but he is dismissive and makes it clear that he calls the shots.

Other Street Drama

Christina Boyd frets about her late daughter, Rachel Parkinson, convinced that Richie Parkinson is the real villain of the piece. Her partner, George Shuttleworth, advises her to sit back and let the police do their job. But when Christina shows George a letter she's written to Richie, she shares her hope that he'll allow her to visit so that she can find out what sort of man he really is.

Chesney Winter-Brown blanks Tyrone, and Tyrone is hurt, but Fiz Dobbs reckons he deserves it. In a bid to placate Fiz, Ross advises Tyrone to be the bigger man and apologise again, and Tyrone begrudgingly agrees. Meanwhile, at No.7, Bernie Winter-Alahan fusses over her son, Kit Green, and insists he has a nutritious breakfast, but Kit feels suffocated.

Later, Kit feels like a charity case when Lisa gives him a man's pamper hamper, and his mood isn't improved when he arrives home to discover Bernie and Gemma Winter-Brown discussing the BRCA gene again. Sensing that he could do with a break, Dev Alahan suggests they go for a curry, and Kit is grateful.

At work, an exhausted Kit ignores Lisa's advice to go home, but when a distressed woman in the waiting room has a coughing fit all over him, he loses his temper. Having seen the exchange, Kirk Sutherland comforts the woman before telling Bernie, Brody and Dev about Kit's behaviour. Brody points out that he is on chemo and needs to be careful. When Lisa tells Kit he needs to go on sick leave, he is furious and rails at Bernie for being overprotective.

Later, spotting Kit, Sarah Platt heads over and enquires how he's doing. When Sarah admits she still thinks about him, Kit is touched. Meanwhile, Chesney assures Gemma that whatever her hospital results are, they'll deal with it together. As Gemma takes a call from the hospital, the family listens with bated breath.

And, when Ronnie reveals that he's due at a support group meeting later, Debbie Webster announces that she'd like to go with him. Later, Debbie tells Sally, Christina and Glenda Shuttleworth she'd like their help with a project she's working on and invites them round for a girlie session tomorrow. Glenda orders Christina and Sally to sort out their differences before Debbie's party, while Debbie tells Ronnie that they need to discuss her long-term care while she's still able to make decisions. But Ronnie is heartbroken at the very thought of it.
