Arsenal's David Raya has been nominated for the men's goalkeeper of the year award at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, with Spain's Joan Garcia the favourite to take the prize.
Raya finished seventh in last year's voting, when Gianluigi Donnarumma won the award. The Arsenal star kept 19 clean sheets in the Premier League last season and was named in the Champions League team of the season after keeping nine clean sheets in 14 appearances.
Spain Trio Lead the Contenders
The favourite is Raya's international team-mate Joan Garcia, who enjoyed an outstanding debut season at Barcelona, recording the best save percentage across Europe with 77.9% and winning a LaLiga title.
Unai Simon is also in the running after starting ahead of both Raya and Garcia at the 2026 World Cup, conceding just one goal throughout the tournament and setting a new clean sheet record as Spain were crowned world champions for a second time.
Women's Award Contenders
Barcelona's Cata Coll is the front-runner for the women's goalkeeper of the year award after keeping 23 clean sheets and conceding just nine goals during a dominant campaign.
Chelsea and England stopper Hannah Hampton was the inaugural winner of the award last year and is chasing successive Yashin Trophy awards.
