The Prince of Wales has been making regular private visits to the Duchy of Cornwall estate, often without his wife Princess Catherine or their three children, according to reports. Since becoming Prince of Wales and first-in-line to the throne in 2022, William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall, a vast estate that provides income to the heir to the throne. While official trips are publicized, many of his visits are kept secret.
Frequency and Nature of the Visits
William reportedly tries to visit part of the Duchy once every four to six weeks, working his way through its farms and offices to meet families and staff, shake hands, and ask what he can do to help. The visits are usually private, rarely making the Court Circular, and are kept quiet by loyal locals accustomed to royal comings and goings, according to an interview with The Telegraph.
Behind-the-Scenes Commitment
These secret trips demonstrate William's dedication to his role, even when cameras are not present. He is not accompanied by his wife or children, and the visits are not followed by media. William, who turned 44 recently, balances his family priorities with increasing royal duties. He is the 25th Duke of Cornwall and will manage the estate until he becomes King, after which it will pass to his eldest son, Prince George.
The estate was previously owned by King Charles, who served as Duke of Cornwall from 1969 until 2022.
