Prince William's funny reaction to fan's kiss attempt

Prince William declined a royal fan's attempt to kiss him on the cheek with an amused reaction, shaking his head and reportedly telling her he doesn't usually do kisses.

The Prince of Wales was taking part in a mini public walkabout after joining cricketing stars, including England captain Joe Root and bowler Sir James Anderson, for an informal game on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace earlier this month.

During the walkabout, William met many members of the public. In an online video, one fan could be seen tugging at his shoulder, pulling the prince towards her. Just before she attempted the kiss, William declined the gesture, shaking his head in amusement.

Previous Kiss Offers

This is not the first time William has been offered or asked for a kiss from a fan. In 2021, he visited a care home, where Betty Magee left him blushing after demanding a kiss. When the prince came to say hello to her, she said: "It's customary in these parts to give a lady a kiss on the cheek."

William replied: "Oh, you are sweet. You'll make me blush." He then rejected the chance of a kiss, as COVID-19 rules were still in force at the time. He told her: "When the rules relax more I will come back and give you a kiss on the cheek, Betty."

Actress also Asked for a Kiss

A famous actress also once seemed keen to kiss Prince William. Emma Thompson, who received her damehood from him in November 2018, reportedly asked William for a kiss during the ceremony. As a friend of King Charles, she has known William for quite some time.

Speaking to reporters while promoting the Disney film Cruella, Ms Thompson said: "Prince William was absolutely fantastic. I wrote him a fan letter afterwards. His face and body language were so kind and generous to every single person. I've known him since he was little, really. I've always liked him. I couldn't believe how tall he'd got. I did say, 'I suppose I'd better not kiss you', and he said, 'Probably better not'."
