Prince William has shared a sweet insight into his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The two young royals are both interested in a range of sports, but Prince William says the brother and sister definitely disagree on one thing.
Last week, Prince William was spotted supporting his football team, Aston Villa. He is often accompanied by Prince George to the football games, who is said to be a keen fan of the team as well. However, despite her family’s love for the team, Princess Charlotte has reportedly claimed to be a fan of Chelsea, a Premier League rival, reports Hello! Magazine.
Prince Louis remains undecided
Prince Louis, the youngest of William’s children, remains undecided. Prince William was captured on camera on Tuesday, October 13, mingling with well-wishers; however, the Royal soon took people by surprise when he came across a football supporter.
A clip of the recent moment was shared on social media this week. According to the translation, the caption reads: “Prince William imitated the famous 'goggles' celebration of Aston Villa player John McGinn when he met a young Villa fan during the Earthshot Prize event held at The Mall.”
William's football celebration moment
When you watch the footage, you'll see that William said to the fan: “Can you make the goggles?” He then does it himself, and puts his hands around his eyes. The fan then does it back to him, and William is seen smiling, responding: “Good man. Love it.” The moment has gone down a treat with fans, as they think it shows how fun he truly is.
For those not clued up on football, John McGinn’s signature goal celebration is the "goggles" gesture. When he does this, he basically cups his thumbs and index fingers upside down in front of his eyes. This is exactly what William did during the moment with the fan. Clearly, people thought it was utterly brilliant, reports The Mirror.
In January 2025, Prince William reportedly stopped by a Wetherspoon pub at Birmingham New Street railway station to partake in a pint of cider with fellow Aston Villa football fans. “He was just a really nice, genuine bloke who really loves Villa,” one of the eight attending Villa fans told the BBC.
