Prince William 'acting as if Harry and Meghan don't exist'

Prince William is reportedly taking a firm stance in his ongoing rift with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, choosing to act as if the couple do not exist rather than engage in reconciliation. The heir to the throne has had a frosty relationship with his younger brother, and the two have not seen each other since their uncle's funeral in 2024.

William refuses to reconcile

According to an insider who spoke to Closer magazine, William is "refusing" to reconcile with Harry and is instead pretending he is not there. The source said: "He’s stopped complaining about Harry and Meghan and is now acting like they don’t even exist instead."

The insider added that courtiers have been trying to arrange a meeting between the brothers to discuss a tribute to Princess Diana, but William has refused. "It’s not just Harry and Meghan that William is disrespecting; he’s openly going against the King’s wishes by continuing to act as though Harry and Meghan are banished when they’re clearly right there at his doorstep," the source said.

Diana tribute project

Harry and Meghan are reportedly working on a project to honour the late Princess Diana, something William strongly disagrees with. William has been offered similar opportunities but has turned them down.

The source added: "Harry made no secret of his interest in doing some sort of film or TV series about their mother in honour of the coming anniversary, and it will be a terrible look if it’s done without any input from William. Almost everyone agrees they should be putting on a united front, not least because it’s what the King wants."

Emotions running high

The insider continued: "But William is immovable, to the point where people are feeling like they’re being forced to pick William or Charles’ side, and a lot of people are afraid to make the wrong choice and end up out of a job. That may sound dramatic, but the reality is emotions are running very high."

"There is a sense, especially with William, that he’s keeping score, and you are either with him or against him. That’s how intense this is for him," they added.

Royal reporter and broadcaster Simon Vigar told GB News: "I can't see the rift with the family, particularly with William and Catherine; it's obviously never going to go back to the way it was, which is terribly sad." He added: "If they were to come back, which I don't see happening anytime soon, and share the load once William and Catherine are on the throne, maybe then, but I don't think Harry wants it, and I’m pretty sure Meghan doesn't want to, and I don't think they care."
