The late Prince Philip had a series of light-hearted nicknames for the Queen, with 'Cabbage' being a regular term of endearment, according to royal biographer Robert Lacey. He also reportedly called her 'Sausage' in private.
The nickname resurfaced following the Queen's death at age 96. It was featured in the 2006 film 'The Queen', where Philip says 'Move over, Cabbage' as he gets into bed. Screenwriter Peter Morgan confirmed he was told on good authority that the Duke sometimes used this name.
The origin of 'Cabbage' is unclear, though speculation points to the French term 'mon petit chou', which can mean 'my little cabbage' or 'my little pastry puff'. Philip, who died last year, married the Queen in 1947 and they had four children, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
The Queen was also known by other nicknames, including 'Lilibet' from her childhood and 'Gan Gan' from her great-grandchildren Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
