Prince Louis Branded Double of Grandfather Michael Middleton at Trooping the Colour
Prince Louis Compared to Grandfather at Trooping the Colour

Prince Louis appeared alongside his mother, Princess Kate, at Trooping the Colour today, Saturday, and fans couldn't help but compare him to another family member. King Charles celebrated his official birthday with Trooping the Colour, but it was young Prince Louis who got people talking on social media.

Prince Louis: The Double of His Grandfather

The eight-year-old royal travelled to the event in a horse-drawn carriage alongside his mum, Princess Catherine, and siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, while his dad, Prince William, rode horseback. The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales is known for stealing the show at royal events, as fans love to see what cheeky antics he gets up to. However, even though Louis was well-behaved during the carriage ride, fans still took to social media to talk about his striking resemblance to another member of his family.

As fans marvelled at how much all three of William and Kate's children have grown, many couldn't help but notice how much Louis in particular seems to be the spitting image of his maternal grandfather, Michael Middleton. Alongside a picture of Louis sitting in the carriage, one fan on X wrote: "Prince Louis is the double of his grandfather Michael Middleton and growing up fast." Fans in the comments couldn't agree more, with one replying: "Definitely a Middleton that one!" Another added: "He is so like him."

Fashion at Trooping the Colour

During their appearance at Trooping the Colour, Louis and 12-year-old Prince George wore matching navy blue suits, while their sister Charlotte wore an off-white dress. Their mother chose to wear a light blue outfit, which tied the colours of her children together into a cohesive family unit.

Other Royal Resemblances

Prince Louis isn't the only young royal to bear a striking resemblance to other members of the Royal Family. When Princess Charlotte celebrated her 11th birthday in April, fans were quick to point out two members of her family that she looked remarkably similar to: her grandmother, Princess Diana, and great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Childhood photographs of both women were placed alongside a picture of Charlotte on Facebook, and the likenesses are remarkable, with commenters admitting they couldn't determine which member of the Royal Family she most takes after.

People on the post were split between claiming Charlotte "looks like the Queen" and she "resembles Diana", drawing comparisons to both her late relatives. Others, however, firmly insisted she is "a beautiful young girl in her own right". One person remarked: "Charlotte looks like Charlotte. She is very pretty and has inherited the beauty genes of her mother, Diana, and the Queen, but she will be beautiful because of that as she grows into a beautiful woman. God bless you, Princess Charlotte."

William and Kate's children never had the opportunity to meet their grandmother, as Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997 when William was just 15 years old. While all three of the young royals did spend plenty of time with their great-grandmother, she too passed away in 2022, when George was nine, Charlotte was eight, and Louis was just four.
