Prince Harry met with King Charles at Clarence House on Tuesday evening for their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months, amid reports of a desire to mend their fractured relationship. Harry arrived at the monarch's London residence at 5.20pm in a black Range Rover, following an earlier engagement at Imperial College London.
The meeting lasted approximately 54 minutes, with Harry departing at 6.14pm. He later attended an Invictus Games Foundation event, where he told Sky News that his father was 'great, thank you'. Neither Harry nor the King have issued official statements about the encounter.
The father and son last met in February 2024, shortly after the King's cancer diagnosis. In a BBC interview in May 2025, Harry expressed a desire for reconciliation, saying: 'I would love a reconciliation with my family.' He also voiced frustration at being unable to speak with his father amid his health issues, adding: 'There's no point continuing to fight any more – life is precious.'
Harry has been in the UK since Monday for charity engagements in London and Nottingham. He is expected to return to his wife Meghan and their children in the US on Wednesday. There has been no indication that he will meet his brother, the Prince of Wales, during this visit.
The meeting came after the King had invested Holocaust survivor Manfred Goldberg with his MBE insignia at Clarence House. Senior aides to the King and Harry were pictured together in London in July, reportedly as an initial step towards reopening communication between the two households.
