Prince Harry reportedly prefers that his children, Archie and Lilibet, are not seen in public, according to royal expert Matt Wilkinson. Speaking on the A Right Royal podcast, Wilkinson explained that Harry's own upbringing in the public eye has made him hypersensitive about his own children's exposure.
Harry's Hypersensitivity
Wilkinson said: "My understanding of this, or up to a certain stage, is that Harry would much rather his children were not seen. He doesn't want them to be tapped."
He added: "He's got this idea that if he takes them outside of Montecito, there's a horde of us out there trying to take pictures of his kids – they're not by the way."
Meghan's Different Approach
Wilkinson noted that Meghan, who grew up in California, is more open to showing the children. "She doesn't want to hide them away and we've seen this, haven't we, more and more with the use of Lilibet and Archie," he said.
Since Meghan returned to Instagram at the start of 2025, both Archie and Lilibet have been increasingly featured in her posts.
Family Background
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and now live in Montecito, California, with their two children. In July, the family made a five-day visit to the UK to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. During the visit, they were hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in a private reunion, from which few details have emerged. King Charles had reportedly been keen to see his grandchildren after not seeing them for some years.
