Prince Harry accused of sucking up to King Charles for cash

A royal biographer has issued a stark warning to King Charles III as Prince Harry is accused of sucking up to his father for exposure and money.

Prince Harry and King Charles reunited this past month, with Harry bringing along his wife and children in a closed-door meeting with his father and stepmother. It was the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in years, and many see the reunion as a step forward in mending the relationship between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.

Prince Harry spent most of his week-long UK visit without his wife and children due to security concerns, but Meghan, Archie and Lilibet joined him later in the week for the highly-anticipated meeting with the head of the family. Both Harry and Meghan's motives for wanting the meeting have been criticised by royal experts, some of whom say that they only wanted the reunion for personal gain. However, the Prince has revealed that he would like more visits to his father in the future.

Royal biographer warns King Charles

Appearing on The Royalist podcast, royal biographer Robert Jobson said that he believes that Charles has been "blinded" by a father's love for his son. "I think he’s impacted by the fact that he’s living with cancer, without doubt. And that the emotion is there to see his grandchildren," he said.

Charles was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, while Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, and now live in California.

Describing the development of the relationship as a "dangerous situation", Jobson added: "I think at this moment, I think that the king has got to wise up. Now, because he needs money, and because he needs brand and because he needs exposure, he’s sucking up to his father again."

Criticism of Harry's motives

He continued: "His father has to realise he’s not just Pa, he’s not just grandpa, he is the King. And he is there as a guardian and also a steward to the crown for his other son, Prince William, who is the heir to the throne. His slow creep of allowing Harry back into the fold is not what the public in this country wants. They feel Harry has trashed the monarchy.....cashed in on the monarchy."

Other experts have previously said that, going forward, meetings and reunions will have to be done on the King's terms, as he reportedly made an exception to scheduling a last-minute meeting with Prince Harry amid the 41-year-old's struggles to get the levels of security he saw appropriate for his family's UK visit.
