EastEnders icon Ian Beale, played by Adam Woodyatt, has made a heartbreaking confession about his father, Pete, while serving an eight-month prison sentence. Ian was jailed after accidentally knocking over Jordan Fox with his car following Vicki Fowler's wedding reception.
Since being locked up, Ian has crossed paths with former neighbour Gray Atkins, a serial killer serving life for three murders. Gray has offered Ian protection in exchange for arranging a visit with his ex-wife, Chelsea Fox.
Heartbreaking confession in prison
During Monday's episode (August 10), a violent altercation broke out between inmates as Ian connected with fellow prisoner Lloyd. While chatting, Ian revealed: "I remember doing a puzzle like this with my dad years ago. I'm just glad he's not around to see me in this place."
Lloyd replied: "I always thought I'd do better than mine, but life had other plans."
Pete Beale's fate on EastEnders
Pete Beale, played by Peter Dean, was a founding character when EastEnders launched in February 1985. He was part of the original Beale family alongside Ian, Kathy, and nan Lou. Pete was also the twin brother of Pauline Fowler, linking the Beale and Fowler families.
The greengrocer was known for his market stall and a paternity scandal involving Simon Wicks with his first wife, Pat Butcher. After splitting from Kathy in 1991, Pete found love with Rose Chapman and left Walford in 1993. However, both Pete and Rose died in a car crash orchestrated by the Chapman family, with the news reaching Ian on the day his twins, Peter and Lucy, were born.
