Peppa Pig has travelled to space for the first time, reaching an altitude of more than 100,000 feet in a mission captured in full 4K resolution. The flight took place ahead of Wednesday's solar eclipse, when the Moon will obscure more than 90% of the Sun between 6.17pm and 8.06pm.
A Historic Journey for Peppa
The beloved children's television character's journey began with her takeoff and ascent, culminating with her floating just above the planet's atmosphere. During the flight, Peppa spotted the NEC from above, as well as other landmarks across the city and wider region. Teddy bear in hand, she was heard saying, 'This is so much fun!' before returning to Earth safely.
Peppa Pig Space Adventure at the NEC
Peppa's one-time, out-of-this-world experience was screened at the NEC's Lakeside Cinema – home of the hands-on, walk-through experience Peppa Pig Space Adventure. Inspiring Young Explorers
The experience features rooms with stories where children can play and discover, such as Evie's nursery or the playroom. A competition invites young artists to design a rocket for Peppa, with submissions open to children.
The animated series launched in 2004 and has aired in over 180 countries, winning numerous broadcasting awards and generating billions with merchandise, theme parks, and video games. Peppa has also become a cultural icon, recently facing off against Charli XCX in a celebrity feud, and Daddy Pig became a household name after running the London Marathon alongside Joe Wicks. The franchise was praised by charities for introducing a hearing loss storyline for George, who was revealed to be moderately deaf and in need of a hearing aid.
