John Fury has branded his brother Peter a 'cockroach' for giving Anthony Joshua key advice ahead of his money-spinning fight with Tyson Fury.
Joshua and Fury faced off for the first time last week ahead of their £150million heavyweight showdown in Cardiff on December 11. In a stunning revelation, 'AJ' stated that he has been taking advice from Fury's uncle Peter, who famously led his nephew to his first world title. However, the pair split not long after and are no longer on speaking terms.
Peter Fury's social media revelation
Ahead of December's clash, Fury's uncle Peter took to social media to reveal that he has been speaking to his nephew's bitter rival. He wrote: "Me & AJ spoke 2 months ago about advice on his skill set, really nice guy.
"After his fight anything he needs from me [would] be a pleasure. He has a great team around him inc Team Usyk."
John Fury's angry response
Fury's dad, John, has hit out at his estranged brother for helping out Team AJ. "I don't talk to the man. I'll never speak to him as long as I live. He knows why," he told PlayBook Boxing.
"If he was to do that [talk to AJ] in any way, shape or form, that would make him the lowest form of human being. Even thinking about doing it, that makes him the biggest dog, the biggest untrustworthy dog of all time.
"If he's going to start giving phone calls and advice, meeting in secret, giving him secret sessions, he's a f***ing cockroach."
He added: "The only advice he could have wanted is on Tyson, isn't it? There is no smoke without fire."
Joshua explains decision and Ben Davison reunion
Explaining his decision to speak to Peter, Joshua revealed: "I speak to Peter. He's willing to help me as well. He has given me ideas about our training and about how I can approach the fight. Everybody wants me to win and everybody's going to tell me how to win."
The former two-time heavyweight world champion has also opted to reunite with trainer Ben Davison, who was vital in helping Fury out of his drink-and-drug fuelled depression and back to the ring. Davison helped Fury to a draw with Deontay Wilder in 2018 and oversaw wins over Otto Wallin and Tom Schwarz.
Joshua worked with Davison for his stunning wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, but they split following his crushing knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024. Speaking of the reunion ahead of his clash with Fury, Joshua said: "I'm at a stage in my life now where everybody better shut up and listen to me when it comes to boxing because I've learned more than most people and most coaches now.
"When I sat back and I observed this, I realised Ben Davison will be a big addition to this fight with what he can add to helping me beat Tyson Fury. He's very good at pinpointing certain things leading up to a fight that I can execute and exploit. I believe Ben Davison will get me that one step closer to landing the perfect punch to pin Fury to the ground."
