A friend of Meghan Markle has defended her decision to return to the UK with a nine-word comment, dismissing speculation that the move was linked to her acting career.
It had been suggested that Meghan and Prince Harry's return to the UK was to reboot her acting career after speculation that she was set to appear in Guy Ritchie's hit series The Gentlemen. This role has not been confirmed and is thought to no longer be on the cards for Meghan, but her return to the UK has still sparked interest.
Friend slams acting career claims
Now, a friend of Meghan has slammed claims that her acting career was the reason for the move, telling the Daily Mail: "You wouldn't relocate a family for an acting job," before adding, "which wasn't yet contractual and was only going to last for a few weeks in any case."
The couple will be returning with their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, who are already enrolled in a British school.
Marriage rumours dismissed
The friend also appeared to shut down rumours that the return is due to problems in their eight-year marriage. They added: "The marriage is not in bad shape, far from it, and this plan has been agreed by them both."
"They both feel it's the best thing for the children and they both want to do this. You will see how happy they look when they are here."
"It's very possible to have the kids at school in the UK and Meghan still working on her business in California."
Extended stay possible
The couple first moved to the US in 2020, just weeks after announcing their plans to step down as senior working royals.
Speaking of their move, it has been revealed that they could be here for an "extended period", with a source revealing, "It could be six months, it could be a year, it could be more. I don't think even they know yet."
According to the publication, Prince Archie, now aged seven, will be a day pupil at his new school. Princess Lilibet, five, will attend the pre-prep, or infants' school, at the same school as her older brother.
