Shaun Wright-Phillips has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after the judges chose to send him home following the latest dance off. The former England and Manchester City footballer and his partner Alexis Warr faced Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu in the Sunday results show on October 25.
Judges split on who to save
Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse voted to save Jaime and Carlos, while head judge Shirley Ballas chose Shaun and Alexis. Anton Du Beke held the decisive vote this week and selected Jaime and Carlos, resulting in Shaun's exit.
Shaun and Alexis had finished at the bottom of the leaderboard with 17 points after his Jive was labelled a "disaster" by one judge. Jaime and Carlos had scored 25 for their foxtrot to Olivia Dean's Man I Need.
Viewers react to the result
Many viewers felt Shaun's departure was the right decision but were surprised to see Jaime in the dance off. One person wrote on social media: "I feel really bad for Jaime, I would've put two couples below her and Carlos. But I'm SO glad Bethany made it through and I think Shaun going is the right decision."
Another commented: "I feel so so sorry for Jamie, she done really well last night! Glad she got saved." Someone else remarked: "I absolutely love Jaime and Carlos and I thought the Foxtrot was gorgeous, much better than the judges are making out."
First perfect 10s and a new twist
Saturday's show saw the series' inaugural perfect 10s, with Delta Goodrem receiving the first after recovering from injury. Winter Olympian Tabby Stoecker then secured two 10s for her couple's choice routine to Stupid Song by Olivia Rodrigo, achieving a combined score of 37, the strongest of the series to date.
Sunday's results programme also revealed Strictly's inaugural triple dance-off, a special innovation for next week's Halloween instalment. The three partnerships with the weakest combined judges' scores and public votes will perform again, before the panel dismisses one duo. The show will then revert to a two-couple dance-off for the rest of the series.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
