Meghan Markle deliberately mimicked Princess Diana in her recent birthday post, according to a body language expert. The Duchess of Sussex marked her 45th birthday on August 4 by releasing new photographs and footage from her celebrations, including two images of herself leaping into a swimming pool while holding a bouquet of balloons.
Expert analysis of the pool jump
Rhiannon O'Donohoe, a body language expert, compared Meghan's pool jump to a strikingly similar photo of Princess Diana. O'Donohoe noted that while the legs are the same in both images, the arms are different.
She told The Express US: "Firstly, the propelling legs speak volumes. They're determined and optimistic, the movement of the legs showing a desire to keep moving ahead." She added that normally people hold their legs together when jumping, but Diana's unusual pose was likely a personal quirk. O'Donohoe said it would be "super unlikely" that Meghan copied it unintentionally, concluding: "This must have been pre-planned."
Differences in arm positions
The expert highlighted that while Diana's hands were flailing, showing her as a free spirit, Meghan's arms and hands were straightened with tense muscles, indicating she likes being in control. "Meghan's dominant nature stands in contrast to Diana's easygoing personality," O'Donohoe explained.
Criticism of the birthday video
Meghan also posted a video of herself dancing in the kitchen wearing a white T-shirt with the words "It's Giving Mrs." and matching trousers. O'Donohoe described the video as "truly odd," particularly the lack of eye contact with the person filming. She said the avoidance of eye contact while facing the camera creates a "faux natural impression," making Meghan appear spontaneous when the clip is "anything but."
O'Donohoe concluded: "This dance is a way to get attention, not express joy." Some critics have branded the video "immature" and "cringe."
