Meghan's Apology Motive Questioned by Carole Malone
Meghan's Apology Motive Questioned by Carole Malone

Commentator Carole Malone has claimed that if Meghan Markle apologises to the Royal Family, it will not be because she is sorry. Speaking on the Express's Royals Unscripted show, Malone said the Duchess's potential apology is a calculated move driven by her desire to reintegrate into British society and improve her public image.

Claims of an Insincere Apology

Malone told Express royal editor Emily Ferguson that Meghan "knew exactly what she was saying in that interview" and that the claim about discussions over Prince Archie's skin colour was "calculated". She said: "If she is going to apologise it isn't because she's sorry. It's because her and Harry have come back here and they are desperately trying to reintegrate into Britain, they desperately want to look better."

Malone added: "I think it is because she needs to change her persona. If she's going to make money, if she's going to start businesses here, if she's going to be mixing in the circles she wants, and making money in the companies she wants to make money with, this has to be gone out of the way and I truly believe this is nothing to do with her being sorry. This is about them trying to burnish their reputation, re-establish their reputation in this country."

Planned Apology Reports

A source exclusively told the Express earlier this week that Prince Harry and Meghan are planning to apologise to the Royal Family over claims made against the Firm, including that discussions were held among members of the Royal Family about the colour of Prince Archie's skin before he was born.

The source said: "Their one big regret about leaving the Royal Family for the US was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a Royal Family member had discussed Archie's skin colour." They added: "Harry was angry with his family at the time, and backed Meghan up, but they now realise what a low blow it was. They both know they're hot-headed and realise they took things too far."

Royal Reconciliation Unlikely

While Malone said an apology would be "a very good thing to do", it is unlikely that any sort of reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William are on the cards, with the two brothers not being on speaking terms for several years. Since the Sussex family moved back to the UK in late August, it is believed they have not reunited with any members of the Royal Family. There are rumours that the couple will be meeting King Charles at some point before Christmas, but no suggestions of a reunion with William.
