Meghan Markle should return to the UK next month with her husband Prince Harry, according to royal reporter Jasmine Carey, who argues it would be the perfect opportunity for the Duchess of Sussex to prove herself.
Strained Relations and Broken Trust
Over the last six years since quitting royal duty, Meghan and Harry have been vocal in their criticisms about royal life. Whether it be Meghan claiming she couldn't wear certain clothes, or criticising certain royals and whether or not they were 'huggers', her loose tongue has driven a clear wedge between the couple and Harry's royal relatives. The tension still exists to this day.
Not only would these comments by Harry and Meghan have upset the Royal Family, but they have also broken something that sometimes can never be fixed… trust. Carey suggests the royals probably feel uncomfortable around the duchess now, and are likely wondering whether they can trust her to be around them in private family moments, trust her not to leak certain conversations, and trust her not to post family snaps.
A Chance to Make Amends
Harry has reportedly been invited by King Charles to stay at Buckingham Palace for his UK return in September to attend the Wellchild Awards. If Harry brings Meghan, 45, with him, and the couple both stay at the Palace - which she might not initially like the idea of - it could be the ultimate sign that they are making a true effort to make amends.
If Meghan stays at the Palace, sees members of the Royal Family, and decides not to share details of this on her Instagram – or with the public – they may begin to believe that things have changed. It will be a sign to King Charles that he can trust Harry and Meghan to be back inside Palace walls without the risk of conversations or intimate family moments being made public knowledge.
Restoring Family Bonds
This is ultimately what the royals need to welcome Harry and Meghan back into the fold, not professionally, but as family. Until the trust between the couple and the royals has been restored, there is only so far a reconciliation will go. The time is now for Harry and Meghan to prove that they can be trusted once more.
