Meghan Markle reportedly plans to take a hands-on approach to the school run for her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after the family returned to the UK. According to a source, she intends to model herself on Princess Kate, avoiding hiring a nanny for the daily task.
Family's Move Back to Britain
The couple moved back to Britain last month with seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, after six years living in California. The family are reportedly living in the Cotswolds, with their two children enrolled in a prep school in the area, reportedly costing £25,000 per month.
A UK-based source told Star Magazine that Meghan has no plans to hire a nanny for the school run, deciding instead to do that daily job herself. The source said Princess Kate is "famous for being this very down-to-earth mom who blends in seamlessly with the other parents at her children's school, and Meghan fully intends to do the same thing."
Adjusting to a New Routine
The source added: "It's going to be a huge adjustment for the kids, so she wants to be there every step of the way as they acclimate." They continued: "She won't be deferring to nannies. She was a very involved school mom [in Montecito], and despite all the cruel rumours that she was disliked by the other moms, that wasn't her experience."
"She had good friends there, or so she claims, and she's determined it will be the same in England," the source added.
Previous Remarks on School Runs
However, Meghan reportedly previously made remarks about how she wouldn't be able to do a school run if the family were to return to the UK. In a 2022 interview with The Cut, interviewer Alisson P. Davis joined Meghan as she picked Archie up from school in Montecito.
Davis wrote of her conversation with Meghan: "She'd [Meghan] remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the UK, she'd never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures."
"'Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn't make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child,' Meghan says."
