Meghan Markle's Humiliation Fears After Harry's UK Visit Nightmare
Meghan Markle's Humiliation Fears After Harry's UK Visit

Meghan Markle was not pleased with the 'quite stressful' royal drama over the Sussexes' UK visit, sources have claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were due to visit the UK together last week; however, plans had to be changed amid security concerns and following a very public back-and-forth between the Sussex camp and the royals over their accommodation.

After conflicting statements from both sides, it was initially announced that Meghan would not be joining her husband in London, and a few days later, it was decided that she would not join him at any public events. Meghan's only known appearance in the UK last weekend is said to be at the private family meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as Prince Harry and Prince Archie with Princess Lilibet at Highgrove House.

Source Reveals Meghan's Emotional Turmoil

Now, new reports have cited sources who gave fresh insight into how the duchess was feeling as the royal drama unfolded. A source who knows the Sussex couple well told People magazine that the turmoil leading up to the UK visit was 'especially painful' for Meghan. They added that she would have felt 'humiliated' watching the public back-and-forth unfold, with a 'lot of sadness'.

Despite that, another source said that the Duchess is 'very supportive' of her husband and 'always lets him lead' when it comes to their royal relatives.

Royal Editor Calls It a 'Nightmare'

The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers told the outlet: 'What was billed as a big homecoming—not only for Harry but potentially for Meghan too—turned into a nightmare. It was further evidence of the fractiousness of Harry’s relationship with the institution.'

Last Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held an hour-long audience with His Majesty at Highgrove House, the King and Queen’s private residence in Gloucestershire. It was the first time Archie and Lilibet had seen their royal grandfather in four years.

Top-Secret Meeting Success

While it is not known what was said during the private meeting, sources have provided fresh insight into its outcome and said the Sussex couple’s top priority was to keep the meeting a secret, and they are quite happy with how it turned out. A source told Vanity Fair: 'They are keeping the meeting top secret. They haven’t said anything to anyone. The agreement was made before they met the king that nothing would be shared—no photos, no details.' They added: 'It was a top-secret arrangement and they pulled it off, and frankly, they are delighted about that.'
