A new poll indicates that Meghan Markle's popularity with the British public remains low, despite a recent family visit to the UK. The Duchess of Sussex has a 22% approval rating, with only Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scoring lower.
July visit fails to shift public opinion
Meghan made her first significant visit to the UK in July, accompanied by Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The family visited the King's Highgrove Estate, the Althorp Estate (Princess Diana's ancestral home), and the Scottish Highlands. They also reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla at a country retreat.
Despite the seemingly controversy-free trip, public opinion has not changed. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond commented: "Meghan is an intelligent woman. I'm sure she is perfectly aware of her extremely low popularity in the UK. I should imagine she now views it as a lost cause and, in any case, she seems to be far happier with her sunshine life in California."
Family moments shared
Meghan shared snaps from the trip on Instagram, including a picture of Harry and the children at Althorp Estate, where Diana is buried. The post, captioned "Summer Holiday", showed Archie and Harry carrying bouquets of flowers as they walked through the tree-lined garden.
Prince Harry also took Meghan to Princess Diana's grave for the first time on the 25th anniversary of his mother's death. The visit followed Harry's trip to the UK for events promoting the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
