Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was visibly emotional as she attended a charity tennis tournament in Los Angeles on Saturday, held in memory of her friend's nine-year-old son, George Zajfen. The event, named the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament, took place at the Los Angeles Tennis Club and raised funds for the Alliance of Moms, a charity supporting young mothers in foster care.
George, the son of former model Kelly McKee Zajfen and entertainment lawyer Julian Zajfen, died suddenly in 2022 from a viral illness. Kelly, a close friend of Meghan's for nearly two decades, gave a speech during the tournament, during which Meghan was seen wiping away tears. Her husband, Prince Harry, stood behind her.
In an Instagram post after the event, Kelly praised the support, noting that a record-breaking $200,000 was raised. She thanked the Archewell Foundation, founded by Harry and Meghan, as well as other sponsors, saying: 'Meg & H, you continue to amaze me with your commitment to community and your fierce loyalty and love in friendship.'
Meghan and Harry had previously donated $5,000 to a GoFundMe page set up in George's honour. Kelly has spoken publicly about her grief and the importance of community, describing Meghan as 'the most amazing, nurturing, fun, loving human' who has been by her side since George's death.
