Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have seen their social circle shrink as friends feel compelled to choose between them and Prince William, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl. Speaking on Vanity Fair's podcast, the author of 'The New Royals' said acquaintances of the Sussexes have had to make a difficult choice.
Nicholl pointed to the wedding of the Duke of Westminster as an example. Prince William served as an usher, while Harry was reportedly asked not to attend to avoid tension, despite his longstanding friendship with the groom. 'I think they probably have lost some friends in all of this,' Nicholl said.
The couple also appear to have limited their mingling with A-list neighbours in Montecito, California. Nicholl expressed surprise that they have not been seen more with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey or Gwyneth Paltrow, speculating that they may prefer a quieter family life away from the spotlight.
Meanwhile, George and Amal Clooney seem to be growing closer to King Charles, having attended a Prince's Trust event in London. An insider said the Clooneys 'clearly want to be on good terms with the King and the Royal Family'.
