Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the UK, settling in the Cotswolds, but their presence has reportedly not endeared them to the local community. One resident has delivered a scathing six-word assessment of their relocation.
Although official representatives have declined to confirm the exact location of their home, the Sussexes are believed to have moved, alongside Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, into a secluded 18th-century farmhouse set within 83 acres of Cotswolds farmland.
Local verdict on the Duchess
According to Paula Froelich, an award-winning American journalist, one local concluded: "People really just don't like her."
A second local added that Meghan spends considerable time at Daylesford Farm Shop in Moreton-in-Marsh. The source explained how she "arrives on her own with a coterie of bodyguards during prime shopping times" and "walks around as if she is very important".
Locals reportedly view her presence as "terribly inconvenient and annoying," while staff "just ignore her".
Public outings and private profile
Meghan recently made her first photographed public appearance since the UK return, seen chatting and laughing at The Three Horseshoes pub in Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire. She has also reportedly visited Soho Farmhouse, a members-only luxury retreat, for tea with a friend.
Some staff at The Three Horseshoes have "refused to serve" Meghan, and one local called her an "embarrassment to women", describing her focus on security as "hysterical".
Harry, by contrast, has maintained a lower profile locally. He recently travelled to London for the annual WellChild Awards and visited Birmingham to launch next year's Invictus Games.
The Express reported earlier this week that the Sussexes' new neighbours suggested they should have "stayed in America" and "kept their mouths shut". Residents in Burford, a few miles from the pub where Meghan was spotted over the weekend, have not warmed to the family.
