Celtic are facing an injury concern after winger Haissem Hassan was forced to pull out of Egypt's international squad. The 24-year-old has withdrawn from the Pharaohs' squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and South Sudan, as well as the friendly in Cairo against South Africa.
Intensive Treatment and Assessment
Egypt boss Hossam Hassan confirmed the attacker suffered a scare and is receiving 'intense treatment'. Celtic's medical staff will assess Hassan after his return to Parkhead, with the club hoping the injury is not serious enough to rule him out for a considerable length of time.
Record Sport understands Hassan took part in training on Thursday and was willing to play, but the Egypt coach did not want to take any chances, especially with the South Sudan clash scheduled on an artificial surface.
Season So Far and Return Hopes
Hassan has made nine appearances for Celtic following his £6m summer switch from Real Oviedo, but was still building fitness after a disrupted pre-season in Spain. The Egypt World Cup ace came off the bench in last weekend's Old Firm defeat to Rangers.
The Hoops hope to have him available for their return to Premiership duty against Motherwell on October 11.
Coach's Comments on the Injury
Egypt head coach Hassan said: "Haissem Hassan is receiving intensive treatment just now. But I am not worried about his absence because we have a lot of excellent players to replace him."
He added: "Haissem is a vital technical asset for our long-term vision, but his recent injury made it impossible for him to join us for this camp. We prioritise player health and full physical recovery above all else and we expect him back once he is 100 per cent fit."
