Love Island stars Sean Fitzgerald and Lola Deal have confirmed they are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend, sharing the news in an emotional Instagram post that left fans in tears.
The couple, who coupled up on day one of the ITV show, remained together throughout their time in the villa, surviving Casa Amor and multiple recouplings. They made their romance exclusive early on and declared their love for each other, but their journey was cut short when they landed in the bottom three after a public vote. They volunteered to leave so that Lorenzo and Julia wouldn't have to make the difficult choice.
From Villa to Real Life
Since leaving the villa, their bond has grown stronger, but they waited for the perfect moment to make things official. In a major update, Lola confessed she would leave her home and relocate to Ireland to be with Sean, also known as Fitzy, as they pursue their romance.
Taking to Instagram today, they shared photos of an extravagantly decorated room featuring red balloons and balloons spelling out: "Will you be my girlfriend?" The room also had rose petals scattered across the bed and floor as the pair posed for the camera, beaming. Sean wrote: "She's officially a WAG! Thanks to @luxe_decorr0 for making it possible."
Support from Fans and Co-Stars
Lola replied: "Happiest girl alive", while co-star Priya added: "Buzzing for you guys." Support also flooded in from fellow Islanders, and fans were moved to tears by the gesture. One person wrote: "That so cute." Another penned: "UGH LITRO ONE OF MY FAVES FROM THE VILLA IM CRYING." A third added: "Such a lovely amazing couple wish you all the best."
Lola and Sean faced criticism during their stint on the programme, with some viewers voicing worries they were "playing a game" and hoping to claim victory. Nevertheless, many were persuaded the pair had discovered genuine romance and were the "strongest" coupling in the villa.
Love Island can be streamed on ITVX.
