Lee Andrews has denied claims that he faked his own death after a memorial post appeared on his Instagram account. The 43-year-old, who is Katie Price's estranged husband, said his account was hacked by "sick individuals" and that he is "very much alive and well".
The post, which has since been deleted, featured a black and white photo of Lee in a car and read: "With a huge heart of sadness. And this heartfelt message, we say our final goodbyes to this beautiful soul, to our loving Lee who has tragically passed away."
Lee, who was released from Dubai's Al Awir prison this week after weeks of silence on social media, later posted a red cross over the original image and wrote: "Please don't believe any of this I have been clearly targeted for the death hoax by sick individuals. I'm very much alive and well this is terrible as I have family that had to see it. My account is back with me."
Ex-partner casts doubt
His ex-partner Alana Percival, who he was with last year, responded to the news by suggesting he may have orchestrated the post himself for attention. She wrote: "To everyone messaging me asking if Lee has passed away… I don't know… Lee lies so so much and told me he has was dying once (which was a lie) so I don't know what to believe seeing this! But the answer is I don't know."
She continued: "Says he's been hacked.. more like wasn't getting a lot of Instagram views so wanted some sort of attention and views, soon he'll be showing you all his insights saying thank you for all the support." Alana added: "Hacked and back within an hour. Man thinks everyone is thick. Everyone sees through this, he has deep serious issues."
Lee has strongly denied Alana's claims, telling The Sun: "No comment," and adding: "Definitely not true I'm alive and kicking."
Split from Katie Price
Katie recently discussed her split from Lee on ITV's Good Morning Britain, saying: "I love him… but who is he? I love the man I met. I can't take it. I was stupid to fall for him. It's really sad."
The mum-of-five said she discovered he only had £2.22 in his cryptocurrency wallet, despite claiming he had millions. Lee has claimed he did have the funds and that Katie was looking at the wrong account. Asked if she thought Lee loved her, Katie replied: "I do believe he did. I think he's got himself in such a situation… where he copy and pastes what he says to women… I do believe he's fallen for me."
Katie insisted Lee never took any money from her, but said: "I feel like he scammed my heart and stole my trust that I had, and me defending a man constantly because he made me believe that, 'Kate, come on, you know I'm not like this.'" In a voicenote played on GMB, Lee insisted "there's been no wool pulled over anyone's eyes" and that he was in "civil jail" and hadn't been convicted of any crimes.
