King Charles Sends Heartfelt Letter to World's Oldest Person, 117-Year-Old Maria Branyas Morera
King Charles writes to world's oldest person on 117th birthday

In a touching gesture of royal recognition, His Majesty King Charles III has reached out to celebrate an extraordinary global milestone. The monarch has sent a heartfelt personal letter to Maria Branyas Morera, the world's oldest living person, on the occasion of her 117th birthday.

The message was delivered to Mrs. Morera, a Spanish-American supercentenarian born in San Francisco in 1907, who now resides in Catalonia, Spain. Her incredible life has spanned three centuries and witnessed some of the most significant events in modern history.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed the correspondence, stating: "His Majesty has sent a private letter to Maria Branyas Morera to mark her 117th birthday." This act continues a long-standing tradition upheld by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who also recognised remarkable human achievements during her reign.

Mrs. Morera, who has lived through two world wars, the Spanish Civil War, and the recent global pandemic, currently holds the verified title of the world's oldest person following the passing of French nun Sister André earlier this year.

A Life Spanning Three Centuries

Born on 4th March 1907, Maria Branyas Morera has experienced unprecedented historical change. Her family moved from the United States to Spain in 1915, and she eventually married a doctor with whom she had three children. Today, she has 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Remarkably, she survived a bout of COVID-19 in 2020 at the age of 113, attributing her longevity to "order, tranquillity, good connection with family and friends, contact with nature, emotional stability, no worries, no regrets, and lots of positivity."

Royal Tradition of Recognition

The King's letter continues the royal family's practice of acknowledging exceptional human achievements. This tradition of sending congratulatory messages for significant birthdays and anniversaries remains a cherished aspect of the monarchy's role in celebrating national and global milestones.

As the world continues to marvel at Mrs. Morera's incredible lifespan, this royal recognition serves as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary lives being lived across generations.
