King Charles could soon reveal the true state of his relationship with Prince Harry. Next month, Harry will return to the UK alone, just weeks after his last visit in July, when he was accompanied by his wife and children for part of the trip, including a family reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove.
Solo Visit Will Be Telling
Harry's upcoming trip will be significant. If he visits without meeting his father, it could indicate that a reconciliation isn't happening behind the scenes. The King met Harry in July when his grandchildren were present, but if he doesn't meet him in September when Harry is alone, it suggests the Highgrove reunion was primarily for the sake of the King's relationship with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, rather than with Harry himself.
Conversely, if the monarch makes time for Harry in September, especially if Harry flies alone, it would show the relationship could be on the mend—something many want to see.
Buckingham Palace Offer Not a Clear Sign
While some might view the King's offer for Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace as a positive sign, this doesn't necessarily indicate a good relationship. The King has many royal homes with hundreds of bedrooms, and Buckingham Palace isn't occupied by any royals, including the King, who confirmed this year he would never call it home during his reign.
The offer is nice, and it suggests some relationship exists, but giving Harry a room in a vast palace where the King is unlikely to be simultaneously is not proof that all is well. Whether the King sees Harry during his busy schedule, without Archie and Lilibet around, will truly reveal if their relationship is on solid terms or if the Highgrove reunion was only to prioritize time with grandchildren.
