King Charles would be making a 'serious mistake' if he acceded to Prince Andrew's reported demand over his living arrangements, according to a royal expert. Andrew is said to be in talks with the King's representatives about leaving his Royal Lodge home after controversy over the 'peppercorn' rent for the 30-room mansion.
Reports suggest Andrew will give up Royal Lodge but has requested Frogmore Cottage, the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meanwhile, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who also lives at Royal Lodge, may relocate to Adelaide Cottage after it is vacated by the Prince and Princess of Wales next month.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond described the reported requests for two separate properties as 'audacious' and said the Palace should 'outright reject' them. She told the Mirror: 'It would be a serious mistake if the King agreed to such a brazen demand.'
The King has long encouraged his younger brother to move out, having first offered Frogmore Cottage in January 2023, which Andrew turned down. Bond added that Andrew and Sarah seem to feel entitled to homes in Windsor Great Park despite public outrage over their links to Jeffrey Epstein.
