Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones, 37, made an emotional confession on Instagram hours before tonight's live show, posting about her parents and triggering a flood of supportive comments.
Heartfelt Instagram post
On Saturday (October 10), the dancer, paired with John Nellis in this year's competition, shared several photographs alongside a remarkably honest admission. She wrote: "Does anyone else feel like the bond with their parents only grows stronger with age? No matter how far apart we live, and how much time passes between visits, the love only grows stronger."
She continued: "To me it feels like I'm holding on to a rope tighter and tighter as it gets further away, not wanting for it to slip away even a little bit. Time spent with my partner will always be my greatest comfort. Gosh, I love them so much."
Fans respond with support
The message swiftly sparked discussion, with numerous fans rushing to back Katya. Many confessed her words left them feeling rather emotional. One remarked: "As I was watching Strictly with my parents last weekend while they visited me in London, I was telling them how your bond with your parents really resonates with how I feel about mine and my parents. They thought that was really special. How lucky we are."
Another commented: "This post is so meaningful." A third responded: "Enjoy and treasure every moment." Meanwhile, a fourth observed: "Definitely, I love spending quality time with my parents. I love that your parents go to see you and John shine on the dance floor together."
Impact in the competition
Someone else noted: "This is so true." One more also stated: "Yes, absolutely. It's a privilege I don't take for granted. Love spending time with my parents." It's evident she nearly moved people to tears with her sentiments, judging by the emojis posted beneath the photographs. They confirmed they "loved" the message, sending supportive words ahead of tonight's programme.
This year Katya and John have created quite an impact in the dancing competition thus far. During the first week of the live shows, they flew to the top of the leader board, scoring 31 points for their impressive foxtrot. Tonight they will continue to compete on the dance floor as they tackle another routine. It's understood they will perform a Cha Cha to Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body".
